Jefferson plans ninth cross country season

OAK RIDGE — Returning this fall for a 9th season, the Jefferson Youth Cross Country Program will be offered by the Jefferson Township Recreation Department for all Jefferson Township residents from grades 1 through 8.
The participation fee will be $40 per student with checks payable to the Township of Jefferson and it covers league fees, event participation fees, and a team tee shirt. Registration is due by Sept. 2, the latest; and any received after that date will incur a late fee of $10 for a total fee of $50 per child.
To prepare for the fall season, the start date for practices will be Tuesday, Aug. 14, with practices at the Jefferson Township High School’s Track and Cross Country course, 1010 Weldon Road. New Head Coaches this year will be James and Jill Jablonski and they have announced that practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m. for approximately one hour unless specified otherwise and will be adjusted later in the season to accommodate earlier nightfall.
All meets will take place on Sundays at 9 am tentatively starting on September 9 and continuing each consecutive Sunday with the last meet scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 28. All meets are approximately one hour or less at the old Greystone complex now called Central Park of Morris County. Volunteers 18 years of age and older are needed to assist with team activities and interested adults can fill in the volunteer section of their child’s registration form or can contact the Coach directly to volunteer with their name, telephone numbers, and email address.
