Visions Federal Credit Union, a member–owned financial institute and for over 50 years, committed to communities they serve, presented Center for Prevention & Counseling, located in Newton, with a donation in the amount of $3,315 on June 18.
Donations by Visions employees, Center for Prevention and Counseling has made Visions Federal Credit Union a Partner Level Sponsor in the agency’s fourth annual “Changing the Face of Addiction” walk which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4. All proceeds from this event will be used by Center for Prevention and Counseling to help those currently in need of services for prevention, treatment and recovery from substance use disorders.
The “Changing the Face of Addiction” walk at the Franklin Fireman’s Pavilion on Buckwheat Road in Franklin is being held in memory of two young men from Sussex County who lost their lives to addiction. This walk begins at 10 a.m. (registration at 9:00 am) and is approximately one and a half miles. Hamburgers, hot dogs and refreshments will be available at no extra charge after the walk thanks to generous donations from local businesses.
Two mothers, joined by pain and heartache over their loss, came to The Center for Prevention and Counseling where, together, the planning of this healing community event has provided hope for them and others for the past four years. Participants may walk in honor of someone, create a team and/or become a valued sponsor of the walk by making a donation to the “Changing the Face of Addiction” walk at www.centerforprevention.org/walk.
Local and national prevention, treatment and recovery resources will be available at this event where you will also have an opportunity to hear personal stories about recovery. Last year, over 400 people participated and organizers are hoping to surpass that number this year.
