New York man faces drug, assault charges
HAMBURG — A New York Man was arrested on Wednesday, July 18, allegedly after shoplifting, and fighting with Hamburg Borough police officers at the local 7-Eleven.
Edward Lindhorn of Sinai, N.Y., 31, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, shoplifting, heroin possession, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, and under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.
Police said when they arrived Lindhorn appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance, became aggressive and attempted to flee the store. Lindhorn allegedly refused to comply with officers' commands and became combative. As officers tried to detain Lindhorn, he allegedly wrestled with officers and was eventually detained by Ptl. McNulty, with the assistance of Sgt. Jason Tangorra and Hardyston Officer Lawrence Barcza. During the struggle all three officers sustained cuts and bruises, and later received minor medical treatment.
Lindhorn was found to be in possession of 5 bags of heroin and a straw commonly used to inhale heroin.
Lindhorn was sent to the Keogh Dwyer Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
