VERNON — Libraries Rock has been the theme of the summer reading program since June.
The fun continued on August 3 when Jay Jay the Bubble Guy made a return appearance to the Dorothy Henry Library.
The high energy performance mesmerized roughly 20 children from the age of a few months to seven years as bubbles of every size and composition floated in the library’s community room. Performing for youngsters for 25 years, Jason Gadino a.k.a. Jay Jay the Bubble Guy and or Balloon Guy sports credentials as a balloon artist, a bubble magician, a disc jockey and an actor who is a member of the Screen Actors Guild. He will be filming on Monday, Aug. 6 in Central Park in his role as Balloon Guy in HBO’s series High Maintenance.
“I did one episode last year as Bubble Guy and this year I will transform into Balloon Guy,” Gadino laughed.
Comfortable with children, Jay Jay creatively entertained the under eight crowd by displaying what he called The Bubble Family. Starting with the tiniest type of bubble called Spirit Bubbles, then Baby Bubbles, bubble chains, bubble spaceships, clusters, gigantic and monster bubbles.
With the total attention of the youngsters, Jay Jay created a bubble called the Mama bubble, one large bubble with a small bubble inside it. Also impressive were Jay Jay’s volcano bubbles which when popped by the children erupted with smoke. The last member of the Bubble Family was Mega Bubble, rightly named because it was made with an enormous wand and every child in attendance became a Bubble child. They had a chance to step inside the actual huge bubble. Something the children seemed to totally love.
