Perfect Timing Sewing Machine Co. to close

VERNON — Perfect Timing Sewing Machine Co. on Route 94 in Vernon, in business since 2001, is closing its doors.
The long time business in the little blue building near the railroad tracks on Route 94 in the McAfee section of Vernon, started out 17 years ago in 2001 as a full-service quilt shop, and morphed into a sewing machine sales and service shop in 2011. Since then, the shop has proudly serviced, repaired and sold thousands of sewing machines to seamstresses, quilt makers and hobbyists.
Owner Jon Lasslett, affectionately known as the "Sewing Machine Guy" says, "It's been a good long run here. We've enjoyed having our businesses here in Vernon, and have met so many awesome people. But the time has come to close the storefront and take our services on the road".
Customers who need their sewing machine serviced or repaired need only call the same shop phone number to set up a house call.
"I've done many house calls for people that have machines that are too large to transport, and I am still contracted to work on several area school classroom machines, so going mobile isn't really a new thing", said Lasslett. "And now, I also offer scissor and knife sharpening service, which I can do during the same house call".
The shop has also catered to motorcycle clubs, law enforcement and emergency services personnel, as well as girl and boy scout families who've needed patches sewn on to their garments.
"I'm a biker, and we've enjoyed working with the American Legions and bike clubs and anyone who's needed "patch work" done, so, we'll continue to offer that service as well, and take it on the road too".
The liquidation sale will end Saturday, Jan. 28, which is the last day the store will be open. All sewing machine accessories, feet and notions are 50 percent off, with further reductions coming closer to the last day. Many $1 items and free items will be available in the last days.
The shop is located at 99 Route 94, Vernon in Mc Afee (near the George Inn) and is open everyday from 10-4 p.m.
