Harmony in Motion welcomes new director

| 23 Jul 2018 | 01:12

Under its new director, Jeanne Viscito, Harmony in Motion has been busy in recent months.
Along with learning numerous new songs and choreo, this women’s a cappella chorus has scheduled several performances in and around their home base of Sussex County. You can find them every Monday night at Bristol Glen in Newton rehearsing from 7-9:30 p.m.
Women who enjoy singing and performing are always welcome to visit and join in!
Harmony in Motion’s first performance with their new director came in April, when a small group provided entertainment at an Art Exhibit held at the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council. This chorus has been partially funded by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through the State/County Partnership Block Grant Program, as administered by the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council.
In June, they performed several songs and were well received at Branchville’s Community Arts Day, singing in front of the gazebo at the park. July 14 found Harmony in Motion performing once again at Lake Owassa, an annual event where some of their audience arrives in boats to hear the harmony on the steps of the Wistermayer residence, while others relax in the backyard seats. The weather cooperated and it was a perfect night for musical entertainment!
Next on their agenda will be performing our National Anthem at Skylands Stadium on Friday evening, July 27, prior to the Miners baseball game.
On Friday evening, Aug. 31, Harmony in Motion will again be participating in the vigil at the Newton Green for Drug and Alcohol Substance Abuse Awareness, where they will be singing a couple of songs at the conclusion of the program which is sponsored by the Center for Prevention and Counseling.
At noontime on Friday, Sept. 7, you will find this chorus performing some patriotic songs at the annual “Tee It Up for the Troops” golf fund-raiser at Crystal Springs. Harmony in Motion has participated in this event for the past several years, and they consider it a privilege to be able to support our troops in this way.
Harmony in Motion is booking performances for the holiday season and has already scheduled a few dates. If you are interested in booking this chorus for a special event, call Gail at 201-874-1268.
