Jason Miles to perform at Highland Lakes

What do Miles Davis, Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin, Sting, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Grover Washington Jr., George Benson, and Herb Alpert all have in common?
Aside from a pile of Grammys and platinum-records between them, they are also just some artists who have played with keyboardist Jason Miles.
Highland Lakes will welcome Miles — a Grammy Award winner and four-time Grammy nominee in his own right — to Seckler Stage for a night of music and colorful stories about his experiences with some of music's greatest luminaries. Miles, who was actually a Highland Lakes resident back in the early 70s, will be joined onstage by drummer Richie Morales (Brecker Brothers, Spyro Gyra, Mike Stern) and bassist Buster Hemphill (Blood Sweat and Tears) to play music from his two most recent records, “Kind of New” and “Blue is Paris,” as well as some solo pieces he plans to record later in August for his first solo piano CD. (“Kind of New” made many “best of the year” lists in 2016 with Jazziz Magazine citing it as the second best album of the year. Its follow-up, “Blue is Paris,” is dedicated to the victims of the November 13, 2015 terror attacks in Paris.)
