'Gigs for Gabby' to raise money for cancer-stricken 10-year-old

SANDYSTON-On Aug. 31, 2017, Gabby Cox was diagnosed with T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Her treatment plan is 2.5 to 3 years. This will involve straight chemo every day until December 2019. On Sunday, July 22, friends of the family will be holding a fundraiser called Gigs for Gabby for this brave little 10-year-old and her family. The fundraiser will be a fun-filled day of bands and food. It will be at the Layton Hotel in Sandyston, just up Route 206 from Newton.
Cox is known and loved by many all over the area.
Cox' mother, Holly Sollito, said, “Gabby gets monthly spinal taps awake and also has chemo through her port and also dispensed by me at home daily. She has had over 15 blood transfusions and over10 platelet transfusions.”
Sollito added, “Gabby is very much a believer of God and leans on him for peace and comfort .I believe this is why she has gotten through many of the rough parts of this journey.”
Cox was born in Stockholm where she also lived when she was younger and now resides in Franklin. She has three brothers: George 15, Garrett 13 and Luke 6. She also has a ste brother and step sister 13 and 22.
“Since she has been sick, she rarely complains and honestly amazes me with her strength,” Sollito said. “It is definitely life changing and something I would not wish on any family. Especially the financial strain. But we have been blessed many times with many donations and fund raisers. Every time things get hard, something comes through for us.”
The July 22nd fundraiser will include a BBQ country style buffet in the ticket price which is $20 in advance, and $25 at the door the day of the show. Children ages 6-12 are $10 both in advance, and at the door. Kids five and under are free. All proceeds will go to Gabby and her family for medical expenses, travel back and forth to Morristown, and everyday bills that they have. Musical performers will include: Mike Lawlor & Friends/ R.E.N.O./ Whiskey Crossing/ Your Creepy Neighbor/ Lefty & the Tall Boys/ Between Hope & The Highway/ Rosie Lazroe/ Qween Pashmeen/ Billy Branson & Timmy Blohm.
