Dirt’s Kitchen Garden Tour Blooms Again

Right next door, your neighbors are plotting veggie patches, jarring jelly, harvesting honey, and raising chickens in their own backyards—and once a year, Dirt magazine unlatches the fence and lets you wander inside for an exclusive look during its Kitchen Garden Tour.
The event returns Sunday, July 29th from 10 am – 8 pm, now with two exciting ticket options for garden peepers. One is the traditional self-guided tour, during which ticketholders get a map and a garden guide, hop in the car with their crew, and take their own route. New in 2018, the event has added a bus ticket for those who’d let Dirt mag take the wheel on a tour specially curated by the magazine’s editorial team.
Novice gardeners and green thumbs alike leave these veggie patches with new tips. “It inspired my Husband and I so much that we completely re-landscaped our flower garden,” comments 2016 attendee Diane Ross. “We really enjoyed the day.”
After touring the gardens from 10-5, all ticketholders and gardeners meet up for a farm-to-table celebration at Mohawk House at 6 pm, where everyone votes for their favorite gardens while enjoying live music and unlimited beer, wine, and local eats. Prizes are awarded to winning gardens at the end of the evening.
