The Township of Jefferson and the Jefferson Arts Committee announced that Saturday, July 14, will usher in the continuance of a new era in Jefferson Township as the 30-year-old Jefferson Township Day event again becomes the new Jefferson Fest II — Food Truck Festival, Concert, and Fireworks celebration on the fields of the Jefferson Township High School at 1010 Weldon Road, Milton/Oak Ridge.
The event begins with Trout Unlimited Fred S Burroughs/North Jersey Chapter hosting their annual Youth Fishing Derby for all kids under 15. Registration starts at noon at the Weldon Road Fishing Education Pond which is directly across the road from the Jefferson Township High School on Weldon Road.
Again continuing a long standing event, the Jefferson Arts Committee will sponsor its 14th annual Irish Road Bowling tournament beginning at 3 p.m. The alley is Catholic Charities Way off Weldon Road, the home of Wiegand Farms at the Department for Persons with Disabilities facility. Which team will complete the course and emerge as this year’s winner?
Then it’s time to head up to the high school field because the second annual Jefferson Fest celebration officially begins with DJ Earl Heller of Sound Solutions Entertainment getting the celebration going starting at 5 p.m.
While DJ Earl is entertaining the crowd and amusing the children, a variety of food trucks will be opening up on site at 5:30 p.m. offering some delectable menus for your eating pleasure.
Soon enough, its time to sit back to enjoy The Cameos when these performers take the main stage on the field at 7:15 pm for a two-hour live concert.
The Jefferson Arts Committee will be selling 50/50 raffle tickets for the drawing that will be held at 9:20 pm, and those food trucks will continue offering delicious food items and refreshments throughout the evening.
Then raise your eyes to the sky for one of the most spectacular aerial fireworks displays you may ever see staged and choreographed by Interstate Fireworks, the same company that has been presenting their fantastic show in Jefferson Township for over two decades.
There’s free admission and free parking including handicapped parking throughout the event. There is no alcohol, no smoking, no drugs, no fireworks, no bicycles, no pets or animals of any kind, no large coolers, no backpacks, no drones. Bring a lawn chair/blanket for your comfort.
