Mary Serban, 97, passed away at the Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover, N.J., on Saturday May 26, 2018. Mary was born on Jan. 1, 1921, in Trenton, N.J., to Stephen and Mary (nee Hornyak). She was a resident of Saddle Brook for 15 yrs. and the last 18 years Hamburg.
Mary was a graduate of The Mercer Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. Mary was an Operating Room Nurse Assistant Supervisor for the Mercer Medical Center for 33 years retiring in 1981. Prior to moving to Saddle Brook Mary was a Parishoner of St. Stephens R.C. Church in Trenton NJ. And upon moving to Hamburg Mary became a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church and a member of the XYZ Seniors Club, Hardyston Senior Citizens. Mary enjoyed doing embroidering, cross-stitching and traveling with her Sister Elizabeth.
Mary was predeceased by her Brother Stephen Serban, Mother Mary Hornyak Serban, Father Stephen Serban and Nephew David Roncinske.
Mary is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Roncinske of Hamburg, her niece, Patricia Leone, and her husband, John, of Wrightstown, her nephews, Michael Roncinske and wife, Marie, of Frankford Twp, N.J., and Johnny Roncinske and wife Kat of Litchfield Park, Ariz., and her three grand nephews, Andrew, Matthew and Michael, one grand niece, Jennifer, and her three great grand nieces, Madelyn, Charlotte and Dylan.
Relatives and friends will be received on Thursday, May 31, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral 241 Rt. 94, Vernon, NJ (GPS use 1 Vanderhoof Ct.), Family will gather at funeral home on Friday June 1, at 8:45 a.m. for a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Service at St. Francis de Sales R.C.
