Ambuter studio holds master class

Piano students of Vernon teacher Cherwyn Ambuter enjoyed a studio master class with former MEA-NJ president and esteemed colleague Joan Bujacich on Saturday, May 5.
All students were present and some of them performed, including students as young as 5 years of age.
In animated fashion, Ms. Bujacich offered them advice, which the students have been applying in lessons and in their home practice sessions ever since. Afterwards all enjoyed a pot-luck lunch.
Performing were: Solomon Honeywell, Kristen I., Madelyn Torres, and Wayde Walker, all of Vernon; Sam Seamans of Newton; and Nico Szabka of Warwick, N.Y.
Students Nico Szabka and Wayde Walker used the master class to perfect their audition pieces for their participation in the MEA-NJ annual noncompetitive auditions which took place on May 20th, in performed for judges to receive a written evaluation of their playing. Both received outstanding evaluations! This was their début with playing for auditions. Other participants worked with Ms. Bujacich on their spring recital pieces. The spring recital will be held June 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Warwick.
All are welcome, refreshments following. Students of Mrs. Ambuter receive training not only in how to play the piano, but also, in how to prepare for and execute a successful performance. Learning how to best arrange practice time to be ready by a certain date, how to interact with the audience, and how to deal with the psychology of performance nerves are all part of what goes into developing a performer.
Plenty of opportunities are available for performing in her studio recitals, master classes, and recitals of MEA-NJ, PVMTA, and NJPTA.
