Bank suspect surrenders to police

A Milford, Pa., man is facing charges after Franklin police said he tried to gain access to a customer's safety deposit box at SB One Bank in Franklin.
William Poltersdorf, 29, was charged on Thursday with forgery and criminal attempt of theft by deception.
Police said they requested help from the public in identifying the suspect.
Police said Poltersdorf identified himself as the owner of the safety deposit box and signed the Bank’s log book indicating the same. Police said Poltersdorf’s key for the safety deposit box did not work. According to bank employee’s William Poltersdorf had a safety deposit key envelope from Sussex Bank. After some time and after he was unable to gain access to the safety deposit box, William Poltersdorf took the key back and left the bank. He left in a red pickup truck.
Police said Poltersdorf was identified and turned himself in to the Franklin Police Department on Thursday at approximately 10:30 a.m.. He was arrested and processed without incident.
Poltersdorf was released pending a first appearance at Central Judicial Processing in Sussex County, NJ on May 30.
The investigation is ongoing and additional complaints may follow.
