John Richard Cosh, 90, died Tuesday March 27, 2018 at his home in Vernon. Mr. Cosh, son of the late Richard and Pauline (Clark) Cosh was born in Wantage Twp June 8, 1927. He lived in the Wykertown section of Wantage, moving to Vernon 66 years ago.
Mr. Cosh was a self employed Dairy Farmer and he also worked for Richard J. Cosh Excavating of Vernon for many years. He was a former member of Beemerville Fire Department and a Charter and Exempt member of Pochuck Valley Fire Department. He formerly served as chief and was one of the original founding members of the fire department. Mr. Cosh was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a 65-year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sussex.
Mr. Cosh was predeceased by sisters; Frances Chandler, Irene Cosh and Nellie Lilly and daughter in law, Peggy Cosh in 2006. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ann (Rapp) Cosh; children, Joanne Cosh of Sussex, Richard Cosh & his wife MaryAnn of Vernon, Kenneth Cosh & his wife Ellen of Jefferson and Andrew Cosh & his wife Margaret of Canandaigua, NY; sisters, Dorothy Fuller of Sparta and Elsie Trudgeon & her husband Ed of Seabring, FL; 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 31, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third St. Sussex. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Wantage. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Fire Department services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Pochuck Valley Fire Department 13 Lake Wallkill Rd.
