It is important to educate volunteer coaches about how to understand and coach their players.
This free Child Abuse Awareness seminar will give you the tools you need to protect your players on and off the field. Hosted by the Jefferson Township Recreation Department, the class will be held on Thursday, April 5, in the Main Lodge at Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong, at 7 p.m. All Jefferson Township volunteer sports coaches are required to attend and out-of-town volunteer sports coaches are invited to attend but everyone must pre-register.
Learn to understand what child abuse and neglect means to child survivors (of physical, sexual, neglect and emotional abuse); cultural, social, economic, political, and familial factors that contribute to the various types of child abuse and neglect that takes place within families; and how social and economic policy can contribute to prevention and to the promotion of child and family well-being.
Develop an understanding of the range of intervention resources, including educational materials and local direct services, available to children, families, administrators,, and practitioners; and be positioned to contribute to child abuse and neglect prevention on the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels.
