North Jersey chapter of Blue Star Mothers accepting members

| 28 Feb 2018 | 01:06

Blue Star Mothers, a national nonprofit organization, began in 1942 with mothers volunteering during the tough times of World War II.
It is made up of mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, foster mothers and female legal guardians, who have children in the military.
The organization has grown in numbers after the 9/11 attack of 2001. With an increasing interest and need for a chapter in North New Jersey, the Blue Star Mothers of Northern New Jersey-NJ6 was born. It was started by four moms who each have a child/children in the military.
In September of 2017, these moms officially received their Northern New Jersey Chapter and began holding meetings. Participation in the organization is slowly growing and they have activities planned in support of the Blue Star Mothers’ goals.
As a newly formed Chapter, they are in need of members.
Member participation is flexible and does not have to be time consuming. Any time that can be dedicated only increases support of their mission.
The Blue Star Mothers organization is dedicated to providing support for active duty personnel, promoting patriotism, assisting veterans’ organizations, and any other efforts necessary to support our troops.
Blue Star Mothers display flags in their homes demonstrating pride in the fact that they have children protecting our freedom in the time of war.
Some of these moms also have spouses that have served or are currently serving.
They understand the necessity in supporting not only our troops, but our frequently forgotten veterans.
As friends, they have served as a support system for each other, but wanted to do more. They realized that the support they have provided each other could best be served if they reached out to other moms and shared their experiences while also fostering pride in our country, supporting our troops and assisting our veterans.
If you are a military mom, dad, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, cousin, or even a friend of a military member in need of support, looking for information or a way to assist your child or someone you know in the military, please consider joining Blue Star Mothers of Northern New Jersey-NJ6.
Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm at the Pompton Lakes VFW Hall.
