Area to receive another $5.3M in infrastructure funding

TRENTON — Senator Steven Oroho, Assemblyman Parker Space and Assemblyman Hal Wirths announce $5.3 million in awards for transportation projects from the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund (TTF), made possible by the TTF reauthorization bill sponsored by Senator Oroho in 2016.
“The state of our roads and bridges has been deficient for too long,” said Oroho. “Now with a strongly supported TTF, we are able to invest $2 billion each year back into our state’s infrastructure and fund major roadway projects for our communities.”
Last week, Oroho announced $5.15 million in supplemental funding for Legislative District 24’s roads and bridges. This additional $5.3 million in funding from the State’s Municipal Aid Program will assist towns in providing for local transportation infrastructure while also providing relief to local property taxpayers.
“Each dollar funded by the State from the TTF to our municipalities is a dollar less that local property taxpayers have to pay for infrastructure improvements,” said Wirths. “So not only are critical road projects going to get completed in our towns, but taxpayers are also realizing savings.”
“Safe and efficient roads are so important to our economy,” added Space. “District 24 is made up of so many local roadways which makes the release of funds from the State’s Municipal Aid Program that much more vital.”
Oroho pointed out that one of the key components of the Transportation Trust Fund (TTF) reauthorization was the doubling of local transportation aid to counties and municipalities to help ease the property tax burden. This latest round of municipal aid funding represented the start of the aid doubling. Including county aid totals, the funding number totals over $15 million in local aid for the district. Also of note, State managed projects located within District 24 that are contained in the Capital Program of the New Jersey Department of Transportation are valued at approximately $108 million which additionally benefits the region.
