Center plans Narcan training

NEWTON — Each year, thousands of people of all ages are lost from drug overdose, globally.
Some survivors suffer permanent injuries, causing devastation to their families and friends. In Sussex County alone, there were 33 overdose fatalities from January to November 2017 with many due to opioid medications or heroin. In 2017, Sussex County law enforcement administered Narcan 92 times, giving each of those individuals a lifesaving chance. Narcan saves lives and education is vital.
On Thursday, March 15, The Center for Prevention and Counseling in Newton will be hosting a free Narcan training, open to all community members. Opioid overdose is preventable and knowing the facts about drugs and the signs and symptoms of overdoses can equip you with the ability to save a life. These trainings also help provide education and increase awareness of the issues surrounding substance use disorders while highlighting resources for recovery.
Free Narcan kits will be distributed at this training and pre-registration is required.
