Giant Gymnastics performs well at Rutgers Color Games

In early January, the gymnasts of Giant Gymnastics of Sparta, the Garden Gators, attended the Color Games at Rutgers University. Rutgers is the only college in New Jersey with a National College Athletic Association (NCAA) gymnastics team, and their team hosted this meet for gymnasts in New Jersey, one of three they host each year.
The meet is a unique one: Instead of competing with team members from their own gyms, gymnasts are randomly assigned a color before the meet. Each color team has time before the meet to come up with a sign and team name to use when marching out onto the floor. There are no team awards, but the team with the highest placed gymnasts and most gymnasts with scores of 9s, becomes the Color Games Champion.
Despite not competing together as a team, the Garden Gators had an excellent showing, with many gymnasts scoring in the high 8’s or 9’s. The Gators had a few gymnasts on the Champion teams for each division, including, Fiona Postas and Kate Sutphen, who were on the JO Level 4&5 team Green, Emily Rodriguez, who was on the Pink team for Xcel Platinum.
