Zumba class raises money for Hayden's House

More than 30 people participated in a Zumba Class on Saturday, Jan. 13, for Hayden's House of Healing.
The class was led by Zumba instructor and owner, Shari McAtee of Snap Fitness of Oak Ridge, who donated her time and energy for this event. The participants braved the cold and danced to a wide array of fun music. Sweat was pouring off everyone, as they worked out for 80 minutes for this wonderful cause.
The morning was a great success and raised over $1300 for Hayden’s House through generous donations and raffle tickets. Participants were also excited to win gift baskets, as well as a number of fantastic Snap Fitness apparel items and membership prizes that were donated by the gym. The event was organized by Lydia Laba, a Compassionate Colleague of Hayden’s House, who lost her 15-month-old daughter Madeline to a serious heart condition in February of 2016. She attended a retreat for grieving mothers in August of 2016, which proved to be life-changing. All proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit a campaign called Building Hayden’s House One Family at a Time. A campaign has recently been launched to raise funds to build ‘Hayden’s House of Healing’ — a retreat house designed to provide a safe, tranquil space for bereaved mothers, couples, children and families to heal and connect together through a variety of methods and activities offered to assist in the healing process. Hayden's Heart has been created to honor heart warrior and angel, Hayden Dorsett. The mission with his foundation is to not only raise CHD awareness and to help keep Hayden's memory alive, but also to help the many families affected by CHD (Congenital Heart Defects).
