Jefferson Rec Dept. receiving summer camp inquiries

OAK RIDGE — As residents brave the cold winter, inquiries are coming into the Jefferson Township Recreation Department concerning its 2018 summer day camp program which opens on Monday June 25 and closes on Friday, Aug. 17, at the township’s 94-acre facility located at 81 Weldon Road in Lake Hopatcong. Know that Camp Director Terri McCarney is busy setting up schedules, planning exciting on-site activities and off-site trips and expects to open up registration either in late February or early March through the department’s online registration partner Community Pass. It is expected to basically be a similar program as last year but with new off-site trips and new on-site activities.
Camp Jefferson’s facilities include a spring-fed lake for boating and fishing, open grass fields, an amphitheater, fire pit with seating, numerous themed cabins, a main community lodge with full kitchen, a recreation hall with table games, basketball courts, a picnic pavilion, high and low ropes courses, an archery range, a 40-foot rock climbing wall with a vertical playpen and a 250-foot zip line, two GaGa Pits, and a state-of-the-art playground.
Camp Jefferson offers a five-day week or a three-day week (both 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) — you register for the 3 days of your choice. A discount is offered for campers who are Jefferson Township residents; and on 5-day weeks, each additional sibling registered within the same five-day program week gets a discount.
The pre-school program is open to all children 3 years old as of June 25 and completely potty trained, an elementary school aged program for those children entering Kindergarten through 5th grade in September 2018, a ‘Tween program for children entering 5th and 6th grades in September 2018, and a teen program for children entering 7th and 8th grades in September 2018.
Camp Jefferson’s program is a` la carte — you pick and choose your week(s) of camp, any and all options or choose no options and let your child just enjoy an exciting regular fun-filled camp day. Before and/or after camp care, electives, special off-site trips, and morning only bus transportation are available for an additional charge as well as lunch options four times a week at very reasonable prices.
Open house dates are being planned for the afternoons of Sunday, March 18, and Sunday, April 8, at Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong, NJ and more details will be forthcoming. The start and end date for Early Bird registration will be announced soon as well as the regular 2018 pricing.
