The Holy Counselor Lutheran Church in Vernon, is presenting their tenth Annual Christmas Cantata on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m.

Under the direction of music director June Tarantino, an ecumenical church choir, vocalists, narrator accompanied by a chamber orchestra consisting of strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion kicks off the Christmas week celebration with this free family concert. Their featured cantata, The Song Heard “Round the World” by Joseph Martin, captures beautiful Christmas songs of international celebration from around the world. A free reception will follow the 45 minute concert.

This work is a timely reminder that the hope born on that first Christmas night is still needed today and around the world. Familiar carols and new rhythms, joyful singing, declare the light of Jesus the Prince of Peace, a new day to celebrate his birth. The narrative weaves all these international songs together to tell the Christmas story. Come and be inspired.

Holy Counselor is located near Mountain Creek just west of Route 94 in Vernon at 68 Sand Hill Road.
