Santa Claus coming to Jefferson

| 13 Nov 2017 | 05:20

It will soon be that time of year again when children everywhere anxiously await the arrival of Santa Claus, and the Jefferson Township Recreation Department will help fulfill those dreams even before Dec. 25 arrives.
So gather up those eager children and join Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Rudolph on Saturday, December 2 at the Community Lodge at Camp Jefferson located at 81 Weldon Road. Santa will visit with the children from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and hand out candy canes and good wishes.
In addition to visiting with Santa, a Balloon Sculpture Performer will be on site from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Recreation Hall to entertain the children and adults alike. There will be holiday music, children’s’ coloring pages, opportunities to write letters to Santa at the North Pole, and Santa will have small gifts for the children. Beverages and food items will be available for a nominal fee from the Jefferson Township Middle School Student Council and the Red Cross Club. Everyone is invited to come and join in the excitement and encouraged to bring their cameras, smart phones, and/or other electronic devices to catch those memorable shots of a child on Santa’s lap.
Also stop by the North Pole Cinema at the Camp Jefferson Theater hosted by Jefferson Highlights for some holiday movies, and the Train Station at Camp Jefferson will be open to view the beautiful train displays constructed by the BD&W Railroad Club.
Everyone is asked to make a donation to the Jefferson Township Food Pantries, and suggestions include non-perishable food items, paper products, household cleaning products, and/or toiletries to restock the township’s three food pantries.
For further information on this event call the Recreation Department at 973-663-8404 ext. 4 or 5 or log on to www.jeffersontownship.net (Tab: Departments, Recreation, Special Events).
The Jefferson Arts Committee will also be celebrating Christmas in the Village with live entertainment, events, and contests in the historic Milton Village on Dec. 2 at the Jefferson Township Museum, Fire Company No. 1’s firehouse, St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, Milton First Aid Squad, American Legion Post #423, and the Milton United Methodist Church.
