Crystal Springs hosts Hickory Scotch tourney

Golfers participating in the Tullamore Hickory and Scotch Tournament were challenged to play the par 3 11th hole using hickory stick golf clubs dating back to the 1930s adding to the fun and novelty of the 3rd and final Hickory & Scotch Tournament held on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
The most successful golfer using these vintage hickory sticks was Dan D’Agostino whose tee shot came to rest just 7 feet 11 inches from the pin earning him a prize for his shot.
The Tullamore Hickory & Scotch Tournaments followed a 4 golfer team scramble format with the team achieving the lowest score declared the winner. Prizes were also awarded to the second-place team and the golfers who were able to hit the longest drive on hole #14 and land their golf ball closest to the pin on holes #6 and 11.
At the conclusion of play the team of Matthew Myers, Dan Maher, Ed Barrett and Joe Livsey had a score card that read 12 under par 60 to outpace the 2nd place team of Marc Frascogna, Michael McCormack, Mark Dagostino and Antony Bruno who scored a close –ll under par 61.
Other skill event winners were Michael McCormack who hit the longest drive on hole #14 and Dan Maher who was the closest to the pin winner on hole #11 with a shot that came to rest 13 feet 6 inches from the hole.
The field of golfers included players from the Vernon, Sparta and Warwick areas as well as players from more the greater New York metropolitan area.
Following golf golfers celebrated a beautiful day of golf at Owen’s Pub where they listened to a brief presentation about the history of Tullamore Scotch, enjoyed a buffet dinner prepared by Chef Andy Lagana and his outstanding food and beverage staff and received announcement of the day’s golf event winners.
