Phil and Lorna Woodridge of Wise Owl Workshops will be at Main Library in Frankford on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. to present a program about gravestone art.
Attendees will learn about the beautiful work of early New England and New Jersey carvers through images and a carving demonstration. Techniques from traditional hand-carving to modern-day laser-etching will be discussed; as well as methods of recording gravestone art and lettering through photography, rubbings and foil impressions. The program concludes with a hands-on opportunity for 20 participants to make their own foil impressions from a gravestone cast.
Registration is through the Events Calendar link at sussexcountylibrary.org, or by visiting or calling Main Library at 973 948-3660. Advance registration for the hands-on portion is required and limited to teens and adults. Walk-ins for the presentation are welcome as space allows.
