High Point routs Vernon, 42-14

High Point defeated Vernon in varsity football on Friday, Oct. 20, 42-14.
The High Point Wildcats came out of the gate roaring. High Points onslaught was ignited by running back Chad Musilli's 72-yard touchdown run which gave High Point the lead early in the first quarter. Musilli rushed for 181 yards and scored three touchdowns in the contest.
Vernon answered with running back Mike Stefkovich's 70-yard sprint into the end zone for a touchdown. The extra point kick failed leaving the score 7-6. Stefkovich finished the night with 103 yards on the ground and scored one touchdown.
Later Jake Phillip's 60-yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter widened the score gap. The successful extra point kick pushed High Point's lead to 14-6.
High Point quarterback Jacob Liscinsky threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to running back Rob Turro in the second quarter.
At halftime High Point held a commanding 35-6 lead over Vernon.
Vernon's Giovanni DiMartino scored a rushing touchdown from one yard out in the fourth quarter. Tight end Jon Parisi caught the ball thrown by quarterback Dan Fedorko in the followup two-point conversion to reach 14 points but by then it was too little and too late for Vernon.
High Point improved to 5-2, while Vernon fell to 0-7.
