Mutts to go nuts at MPAC

MORRISTOWN — MPAC’s popular Sunday Kids Club series kicks off on Sunday, Nov. 5, with two performances of Mutts Gone Nuts at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
This event is recommended for families with children 4 and over and dog lovers of all ages.
Tickets are $12-$15.
Disorderly duo Scott and Joan Houghton and their hilarious pack of pooches create a canine comedy stunt show like no other, featuring high-flying frisbee dogs, tightrope dogs, dancing dogs and of course, the one and only Sammie the Talking Dog.
Expect the unexpected, as canines and comedy collide in a smash hit performance, that’s leaving audiences everywhere howling for more. From shelters to showbiz, these amazing mutts unleash havoc and hilarity in a breathtaking, action-packed, comedy dog spectacular, featuring some of the world’s most talented 4 legged performers. Deemed ‘A Must See’ by the Washington Post, the dogs are sure to steal your heart, and then your socks.
After each performance, audience members can pay a small fee to have their picture taken with the dog performers. All proceeds will be donated to local animal shelters.
Scott and Joan Houghton have been performing together as a duo since 1984. They have played variety stages and festivals throughout the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan as Jessie & James, a slapstick, unicycling act. They spent three years as the featured comedy act with country music's Lee Greenwood both in Las Vegas and Tennessee, and seven years with Dolly Parton's production, Dixie Stampede. In 1996, the couple adopted their first dog from a shelter in Knoxville, TN and later began fostering dogs in their off-season for a local rescue group. Through the influence of positive trainers Pat Miller, Jean Donaldson, and Karen Pryor. Scott and Joan began creating an entire show with rescue dogs. Chico, made his stage debut in 2005, and by 2007 the couple had reinvented their entire act into Mutts Gone Nuts.
Mutts Gone Nuts’ canine performers live on a small farm outside Washington DC, along with two miniature horses and a potbellied pig named Tofu! When the mutts are not traveling for shows, they enjoy chasing squirrels and taking naps. They are lovingly cared for by Holistic Veterinary Healing in Germantown, MD and their favorite dog food is Wellness.
