Former Council President Rachel Slater was sworn in as Ogdensburg Mayor on Oct. 11, and will complete former Mayor Steve Ciasullo's unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2018.
Ciasullo resigned after injuries from a firefighting accident.
Councilman Peter Opilla was unanimously voted to be Council President.
Slater said the Elizabethtown Natural Gas Survey has been extended to Oct. 15. She added, after they receive the information, the borough will continue from there.
Opilla said the borough has a possible easement on the Beardslee Hill Dr. Loop repair property, but it was still being reviewed.
Councilman David Astor will get some pricing regarding sharing cleaning supplies between the school and the Ogdensburg Department of Public Works. The DPW could possibly order supplies through the school, he said, thus, saving time and money.
The borough of Ogdensburg received a plaque from the Blue Knights for the “Chilly Chili Run,” held every New Year's Day at the Ogdensburg Fire House.
Councilman George Hutnick said, the Sterling Hill Mine will hold their “Haunted Mine Tour” during the last weekend of October. The tour will be open for only Ogdensburg residents, who may also bring a non-resident guest. In addition, he said, the mine is looking to do the tour annually.
