Local business celebrating anniversary

| 16 Oct 2017 | 05:01

It's that time of year again. The Merry Go Round, at 19 Route 23 in Hamburg, N.J., is celebrating another anniversary, the 32nd! In this day and age, this is remarkable. So many unique gift and home décor stores have vanished from our landscape as internet and online shopping have become popular. This gives us the ability to shop for anything we want whenever we want, but so much of the real experience — of discovering that special item, actually seeing and holding it and using our imagination to create a place for it in our homes - has disappeared.
If you'd like to find that special experience, come visit this special store. It's been a landmark in Sussex County for 32 years. This historic Victorian store has evolved over all those years as the needs of our population have changed. What started as a two-room hobby store, soon became a 14-room home décor location with customers coming from all over the tri-state area eager to explore this popular destination with everything from stick candy to complete dining room sets and much more in between. There is very little that has not found its way through the massive front door.
In 2004 Calico Rose Cafe and Tea Room was created. People who visited the Merry Go Round were glad to relax with family and friends and enjoy a delicious lunch and afternoon tea. Everything is made from scratch daily with the freshest ingredients. Our menu includes soups, salads, open-faced sandwiches, paninis, and wraps all with our special blends of dressings and toppings as well as delicious cakes, pies, cobblers and brownies. Try one of our 25 kinds of tea through a tea sampler for a special experience.
The addition of Carriage House Consignments in the large purple barn behind the colorful Victorian home has been the latest add-on to this complex of historical buildings. Gently used and new household items arrive daily, ready to be reused — the new way to recycle and conserve.
If you have not had the pleasure of exploring and experiencing one of the last country stores, please do. You'll find a warm, friendly welcome, great customer service and unique home decor and gifts with “something for everyone”. There is always a special sale. Explore the nooks and crannies, enjoy a delicious lunch or tea party. Relax on the porch, step back in time and experience what a 1874 home has to offer.
A special invitation is extended to all as they begin another year.
Thank you for the support, love and friendship during all these years. An open house will be held on Sunday afternoon Oct. 29, from 3-5 p.m. Please come and share your memories and best wishes as they embark on another year- full of gratitude and joy for all the friendships and adventures that have made it all possible.
    Thank you.
    Sincerely,
