Four Franklin police officers were injuried after the department received a report of a male who made threats to harm himself and anyone he came in contact with.
Daniel Faria, 39, of Franklin was charged with four separate counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and obstruction of administration of law.
Police said they checked multiple areas and businesses throughout Franklin Borough. At approximately 3 p.m., police said they found FAria walking on Corkhill Road near Ogdensburg.
Police said officers attempted to make contact and approach Faria however he became aggressive and challenged the officers. Police said FAria refused to comply with officer’s commands and became combative.
As officers tried to detain Mr. Faria, he allegedly kicked Lieutenant Cugliari in the knee. He then kicked Detective Flora and Officer Oren in the knee. Detective Sergeant Mattessich received a laceration to his arm as he attempted to detain him.
Officers eventually were able to secure Faria, despite his constant attempts to resist arrest and flee.
An undisclosed number of firearms were seized from his residence pending the completion of the investigation. He was ultimately transported to Newton Medical Center for an evaluation.
Faria remained hospitalized after his arrest.
