Franklin Troop 90 attended summer camp and completed two wilderness treks at Sabattis Adventure Camp in Long Lake, N.Y. It is one of the properties owned by the Patriot's Path Council.

The first trek, denoted as Trek 90-1, was a fishing trek where the boys completed 40 miles on a five-day camping/canoeing trip. During the trip, they carried all of their gear (including camping gear, clothing, food, etc.). They entered the water at the boat launch on Long Lake and completed the trip on Follensby Pond.

The second trek, denoted as Trek 90-2, was a trailblazer trek where this consisted of first time trek scouts. The scouts worked on merit badges during the first two days of trek and completed approximately 23 miles during the rest of their trek. Likewise, they carried all of their gear (including camping gear, clothing, food, etc.). They entered the water at the crusher on Raquette River and completed their trip on Tupper Lake.

The summer camp boys worked on merit badges and all of them completed the badges that they intended for the week. They cooked their own meals during the week and participated in camp activities and open merit badge sessions.

On Friday afternoon, the entire troop along with our voyagers went into town for pizza. Saturday morning they packed up and left for the return trip to Franklin.

To join scouting, contact Scout Master Joe Hendershot on 973-209-1256.
