Area girl scouts kick off year

HAMBURG — Wallkill Valley Girl Scouts recently kicked off their Girl Scout year by going camping.
Girls and their leaders and parents slept in cabins, lodges and yurts. They sang songs and toasted marshmallows for s'mores around a campfire at night. The older girl troops hosted breakfast at the Beach Lodge and Mrs. Palmer led a Bridging ceremony for the scouts "bridging" to a new level.
Girls worked on requirements for badges and held a gaga ball tournament.
If interested in your daughter having these experiences, the troop is looking for leaders and scouts in the Franklin, Hamburg, Hardyston and Ogdensburg areas.
