Former mineral museum manager charged in theft

A former Franklin Mineral Museum manager who allegedly stole money and miscellaneous electronics and other resalable items, turned herself in to the Franklin Borough Police Department on Tuesday, Oct. 2.
Doreen M. Longo, 63, formerly of Wantage and now of Longs, S.C., was charged with theft at the Franklin Borough Police Dep. following a theft investigation. Police allege the theft has been going on over the last four years.
An investigation ensued following a complaint by several employees and volunteers who noticed suspicious activity.
Longo, the museum manager, allegedly took money, items sought to be resold to the public, various electronics, and created false expense reports requesting currency in excess of $75,000.
Before her resignation, Longo was a manager of the Franklin Mineral Museum since 2014.
Longo is scheduled to appear in Sussex County Superior Court — Central Judicial Processing on Oct. 25.
Investigation is ongoing and additional arrests may follow.
