Sing A Song, Music Together of Sparta and Hampton and Bumble Song Music Together of Vernon and Warwick, will host a concert for young children (birth–age 8) and their families at 10 a.m. on Oct. 7.
The concert will feature Sing A Song, N.J., and Bumble Song Music Together staff and teachers singing favorite Music Together songs, and a special guest appearance by recording artist Gerry Dignan. “Uncle” Gerry is featured on the CDs given to the thousands of families worldwide who take Music Together classes.
“We are honored to welcome Gerry to Sparta to sing and dance with us”, says Heather Donnelly, Owner of Sing A Song N.J. “All of our families are very excited to hear Uncle Gerry’s familiar voice.”
Concert proceeds will benefit both the Ukulele Kids Club, which donates Ukulele’s and free lessons to sick children in hospitals, and to Hampton’s own 11 year old Jack Jactino who is battling acute myeloid leukemia (AML) since April.
“We hope many local families will come out and enjoy a fun morning of music with their children, all to benefit two wonderful causes,” says Nicole DeLoi, owner of Bumblesong Music Together.
In addition to recording for Music Together, featured concert performer Gerry Dignan has worked and recorded with Grammy-nominated cellist, David Darling, and has contributed to the work of Music for People organization (David Darling, co-founder), an organization dedicated to self-expression through improvisational music. Gerry was also a seven-year member of the world-renowned Chicago Symphony Chorus and traveled with the chorus and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to perform at the Concerthalle in Berlin, Germany, as well as in New York City at Carnegie Hall.
“We have been working on a collaboration to get “Uncle Gerry” here for a few years,” adds Donnelly. “ It’s going to be an unforgettable hour for sure.”
