Arts council accepting grant applications

    The Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council is accepting applications from all Sussex County visual and performing arts groups as well as from other non-profit organizations planning an arts project.
    Applicant non-profit organizations must be 501(c)(3) certified, as determined by the IRS and be governed by a board of directors that is responsible for policy and finance decisions. The organization must also comply with certain federal regulations and have a one – year track record of programs and services.
    Eligible organizations should appoint a member of their board of directors (usually the treasurer) to attend the Arts Grant Workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at 7 p.m. at the Arts Council office at 133 Spring Street, Newton.
    It is mandatory that someone from the applicant organization attend the workshop in order for the organization to be eligible to receive funds. Call the Council at (973) 383-0027 by Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. to reserve a place. This workshop is optional for current re-grantee groups. The application deadline is Friday, Oct. 27 by 5 p.m.
    Grants will be awarded for general operating support for visual and performing arts groups and for special projects presented by non-arts organizations. The organization’s board should discuss a proposed grant request and its expected use prior to the workshop, so that the grantee representative is prepared.
