Girls World Expo returns to Palacio in Goshen, New York on Sunday, October 15th. In addition to the expo’s many activities and programs for teenage girls aged 11-18, Girls World also recognizes and awards 18 of the area’s most compassionate, resilient, and innovative girls with the 18 Under 18 Award.

Past winners include Rebecca Garloch of Sugarloaf, New York. She spent three years of her high school career in and out of the hospital due to health issues—but that didn’t stop her from striving to excel academically (straight A’s) and improve the lives of others by volunteering with Project Sunshine and local hospitals.

Another one of last year’s 18 under 18: Cynthia Schneider of Sussex, NJ. She was nominated for standing up to bullies and befriending classmates that felt left out.

There’s also Warwick’s Sabrina Rice, who was recognized in 2016 for her dedication to empowering young girls. She’s a role model in her community, and wrote the book “You’re a Beautiful You,” a guideline for girls on growing up and becoming themselves.
