Vets soar at Sussex Airport

WANTAGE — Some World War II veterans took flight with the help of Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation Tuesday at the Sussex Airport.
The Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring United States military veterans. The Foundation provides Dream Flights in a Boeing Stearman biplane, the same aircraft used to train many military aviators in the 1940s.
The pilot Tuesday was Retired Air Force pilot Tim Newton of San Antonio, Texas.
"I love giving back to those who have given," said Newton. "So far our organization has flown over 2,000 flights nationwide."
One of the lucky (riders was 84-year-old World War II Army veteran Lawrence Spulick of Somerset.
"Wow, I loved it," he said. "To see the open fields and the open sky in this type of plane is unforgettable."
After the flying, the veterans enjoyed a barbeque.
