Man, woman charged in jewelry theft

Two people were face charges after Franklin police received a complaint of a jewelry theft from a borough resident.
Sydney Adubato, 22, most recently of Hampton, was charged with theft and Travis Vannater, 23, most recently of Sparta, was charged with receiving stolen property.
Police said the Franklin resident reported nearly $500 worth of jewelry was taken without her knowledge or consent after having a visitor in her residence. Police allege that Adubato visited with the victim and took severla pieces of jewelry. She is alleged to have taken the jewelry and sold it at various local secondhand jewelry stores in Sussex County.
Polie also said Vannater allegedly assisted Adubato with selling the allegedly stolen merchandise.
On Aug. 7, at approximately 6 p.m. both Adubato and TravisVannatter were stopped on Main Street in Franklin by Borough Detectives in a vehicle. During the stop, the pair were alleged to be in possession of some of the stolen merchandise. Some of the other merchandise was recovered in local secondhand jewelry stores throughout Sussex County.
Police allege the vehicle driven by Adubato was allegedly found to be uninsured for close to a year.
Both were sent to the Sussex County Jail. Police said they were recently arrested and charged with multiple counts of theft in the borough and were released pending a Superior Court apperance in early July.
The investigation is ongoing and police said additional complaints are likely.
