Induction set for sports hall of fame

    The Annual Induction Banquet will be held Friday, Nov. 10 for the Sussex County Sports Hall of Fame at the Lake Mohawk Country Club on the Board walk.
    On the ballot will be Loren Arrowsmith, Tommy Andreopoulos, Connor Fox, Scott Hoffman, Joseph Martinek, Meredith Mayes, Joihn Perdisat, Shaun Stokes and Mark Williams.4
    Arrowsmith is a 1988 graduate of Lenape Valley Regional High School and a 1992 seton Hall graduate. She is being nominated for her accomplishments in softball. While a student at LVRHS Loren’s career record was 80-12, as a freshman she pitched (2) nohitters in (3) days; as published by USA TODAY; May 29, 1985 and a perfect game as a junior.
    Tom Andreopoulos is a 2002 graduate of Newton High School, and also attended Wilkes University, where he earned bachelor’s degree in Criminology. He competed in football, wrestling, baseball and track at Newton, and football at Wilkes University. Andreopoulos competed in track winning gold medal in the 4x100M rely as a sophomore at the SCIL Track and Field Festival. Andreopoulos played baseball his senior year and led the SCIL in stolen bases and on base percentage.
    Connor Fox is a 1998 graduate of Pope John XXIII High School. He graduated from Rutgers University with honors in 2002. Connor is nominated for his accomplishments in high school in cross-country, basketball, and track; and at Rutgers for basketball.
    Scott Hoffman attended Newton High School from 1995-99. He was a 12-letter winner at Newton in Basketball, Cross Country and Baseball. Scott scored 1,239 points in high school for the boys team and was known for his thunderous dunks. He was the leader of championship teams.
    Joe Martinek is a 2007 graduate of Hopatcong High School and is being nominated for his achievements in Football and Track & Field. Known simply as "Jersey Joe", Martinek was and has continued to be a role model both on the field of his choice, and in the community. He was a four year starter in Football, Track and Field, and Basketball and amassed countless awards and records. Most notably, Martinek is the all time leading rusher in New Jersey High School football history. These talents allowed him to be a standout at Rutgers University where he graduated with his degree in Criminal Justice. He then played professionally for the New York Giants and the Parma Panthers of Italy.
    Meredith Mayes is a 2003 graduate of Newton High School, 2007 graduate of Albright College and 2010 graduate with Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Arcadia University. While attending NHS, she was a single varsity letter-winner in Basketball, 3 year Varsity letter-winner in Tennis and 4 year Varsity letter-winner in Softball.
    John Perdisatt is a 1975 graduate of Pope John XXIII High School. He is nominated for his many accomplishments as a high school student in Sussex County in Football, Basketball and Baseball. He continued his athletics as a student at St. Bernard College, Cullman, Alabama from 1975 until 1979.
    Shaun Stokes is a 1997 graduate of Jefferson High School and a 2001 graduate of William Paterson University. He is being nominated for his achievements in Basketball and Baseball.
    Mark Williams is a 1991 graduate of Sussex Vocational Technical School. He is also a graduate of Rutgers University (1996) with his B.S. degree and M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickenson University (2012). He is nominated for excelling in Cross Country, Outdoor Track and Indoor Track before going on to a Division I Track and Field career at Rutgers University. He is currently a highly successful world class Masters Track and Field Athlete.
