Alleta Joyce (Lockburner) Steffy, 89 of Hardyston, went home to be with the Lord on August 2, 2017. Daughter of Frank and Bellma Pearl (Ross) Lockburner of Sparta, “Joyce was born in Lafayette November 5, 1927 and was a life long resident of Sussex County.
Joyce was a people person and made friends everywhere she went. Kind and caring, she cherished each and every one of her friends and would close her conversations with “Love You”. Sparta Township for many years and in 1976 fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse, graduating from Sussex County Vo-Tech’s nursing program. Joyce enjoyed volunteering and was an active volunteer in The Homestead Nursing Home Church ministry and Salvation Army.
Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband Robert M. Steffy on Oct. 30, 2016, brothers Francis and Vivian “Tucker” and sisters Elizabeth Slack, Marjoree Mistretta and Elaine Blanchard.
She is survived by her loving children Robert Kevin and Donna Joyce of Hardyston, sisters Florence Lauer, Agnes Haley, Jean Northup, Molly Harrje and Diane Smith, brothers Frank and his wife, Alice, and Thomas and many nieces and nephews.
We are thankful for all of Mom’s wonderful friends and family for their prayers, support, and expressions of love. Thank you to Compassionate Care Hospice for their care and guidance.
