Frederikus John Van Den Broek

Frederikus “Fred” John Van Den Broek, 74 years old, died peacefully at home on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Born to Jacobus and Maria Van Den Broek in Paterson, NJ he had lived in Haledon, NJ before moving to Franklin in 1971.
Fred proudly served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a plant manager for Garden State Farms for 17 years in Hawthorne before working as a carpenter for Vanas Construction Company, finally retiring in 2001. He was a 45-year member of the Francis M. Glynn American Legion Post #132 in Franklin, NJ, a life member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid outdoorsman. He was best known as a doting grandfather and loving father.
Fred was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Johanna “Diane” Van Den Broek (2014), and a brother, Jacobus Van Den Broek (1989), and is survived by Michael Van Den Broek and his wife, Hope Breeman, of Highland Lakes, NJ, Marc Van Den Broek and his wife, Kathleen, of Stillwater, NJ, and Brian Van Den Broek and his wife, Renee, of Wantage Twp., NJ. Loving grandfather of Sophie, Miles, Marc, Kimberly, Robert, Reyer, Jase and Lynden. Dear brother of Marie Bitzer of Ringwood, NJ, Cornelius Van Den Broek of Palm Harbor, FL, and Anita Haycook of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
Graveside services under the direction of F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, 1 Main Street, Franklin, N.J., will be Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at North Hardyston Cemetery, Hardyston Twp., NJ.
