New restaurant coming to Franklin

Franklin is about to get one more place for resident to sit and chat — and even throw back a cold one.
The old Wok 'n' Sushi building will reportedly soon be home to a new eatery called Brick and Brew, Borough Administrator Alison McHose indicated at Tuesday evening's Council meeting. Owner Bill Elig is the same man behind Villa Capri I and II in Sparta as well as Mama Cees Pizza in Franklin.
According to McHose, renovations to the building's interior are already under way, including the installation of a new brick oven for pizzas and new floors throughout as well as other cosmetic improvements. The new restaurant will serve an “extensive” menu of Italian and other cuisine, McHose said, and will also have a liquor license to serve alcoholic refreshments.
McHose noted the work is being done in advance of a so-called “soft opening” expected next month; a full grand opening date has not yet been announced by the owner, she said.
The entrance of another eatery in Franklin will follow the closing of another local favorite: The Cool Cow. The shop, which has served ice cream and crepes since August 2015, is closing due to “unforeseen circumstances,” according to a post on The Cool Cow Facebook page. Mayor Nicholas Giordano on Tuesday said the owners have had another child.
The Cool Cow will be open for a final customer goodbye on Wednesday, July 19. All items on the menu will be offered for 50 percent off, the post indicated.
