Summer has arrived at Mountain Creek Waterpark and to celebrate, the resort hosted a community favorite and 3rd annual, Sussex County Day on June 23. All residents of Sussex County were invited to the Waterpark for a complimentary admission to the park and were asked to bring a non-perishable food donation to help support local food pantries.
Even with a cloudy forecast, residents from all over Sussex County grabbed their bathing suits, a generous food donation and got ready for a fun day in the Waterpark.
By Friday afternoon, Mountain Creek’s boxes were filled and residents were splashing into the weekend. Over 2,000 residents received free admission and donated to the community.
The community benefitted greatly from over 3,000 donations all being distributed to four local food pantries including, St Francis de Sales of Vernon. Branchville Presbyterian of Branchville, N.J., United Methodist of Vernon, NJ, and Horton’s Food Pantry of Sussex County Community College.
“The amount of food donated this season was far beyond last year's strong amount and we look to continue to grow it even more next year. We are excited that the resort and its’ guests played a positive role in making a difference for those in need,” says General Manager Jason Bays.
