Two facing theft charges

Two people are facing theft charges after Franklin received complaints of thefts from various stores throughout Franklin.
Sydney Abudato, 22, whose last known address was Hampton, and Travis M. Vannatter, 23, whos last known address was in Sparta, both were charged with multiple counts of theft and released pending an appearance in Sussex County Superior Court in July.
Police said during June, Weiss Supermarkets reported that an unknown male and female entered the store and removed several hundred dollars’ worth of cough suppressants and cough expectorants, liquid Tylenol and liquid Motrin, along with electric tooth brushes and batteries.
The Walmart of Franklin also reported a loss of fitness tracking watches, along with electric toothbrushes.
Police allege Adubato was found to be taking various types of merchandise from multiple stores without first purchasing them and re-selling them for profit. Police also allege Vannatter was found to be taking various types of merchandise from multiple stores without first purchasing them and reselling the items for profit.
The investigation is ongoing and additional complaints are likely.
