Something brewing in Vernon

The Daily Bean Café at the 1700s Cider Mill property site is a new business launching in Vernon. Owners Gina and Mark Dobrowolski held a soft opening on Memorial Day weekend, training and acquainting their staff and accommodating a crowded house of customers from near and far thanks to Facebook. Also in attendance was Bean the family dog. Was the café named after the dog or vice versa?
An excited Gina overlooked the staff as she described the chalkboard of numerous specialty coffees available.
“We will be serving Bubble Tea,” she commented.
According to the new owner, Bubble Tea contains edible bubbles actually made from tapioca.
The café also boasts in-house baked pastries, epic grilled cheese sandwiches, homemade waffles and daily specials.
Fresh from Monroe College’s Culinary School and 2015 Vernon Township High School grad Kristoff Porter of Highland Lakes will be utilizing his creative talents in the kitchen for the summer of 2017.
“I think being the café’s chef will really be a whole lot of creative fun,” Porter beamed.
The café’s grand opening will be June 3 and 4th with live music, food and an outdoor croquet court. Highland State Bank will be sponsoring the first 100 cups of coffee free on them, as the bank encourages new Vernon business through their pay it forward new business program.
