Judith A. Roth, nee Metcalf, of Oak Ridge, passed away on May 12, 2017. She was 82.
Born on April 4, 1935 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania to Thomas and Marie Metcalf (Nahadil), Judith was the eldest of five children.
Judith attended Kings County Hospital Center School of Nursing in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she earned her license as a registered professional nurse (RN). She went on to work as an operating nurse at Kings County Hospital before moving to New Jersey. There, she transitioned to long-term care at Milford Manor Nursing Center in West Milford, and retired as the director of Nursing in 1994.
She married Raymond V. Roth in 1966 and resided in Brooklyn, where she gave birth to her two children. She moved to Oak Ridge in 1972 where they lived until each of their passing.
Judy was devoted to her Methodist upbringing and enjoyed reading her scriptures daily. She also enjoyed playing the piano, travelling, reading novels, sewing, camping with her children, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Judith was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond, in 1985; her dear sister, Joyce Urbanovitch, in 2003; her sister-in-law, Eleanor Metcalf, in 2013; and her brother-in-law, Eugene Viniarski, in 2013.
She is survived by her loving children, David C. Roth and his wife, Debbie, of Ogdensburg, and Susan M. Collins (Roth) and her husband, Scott, of Hamburg; her cherished grandchildren, Jennifer and Kellie Roth; and Matthew, Rachel, and Daniel Collins; her step-grandchildren, Shane Martin and Erin Ramos, and her step-great-grandson Carter Martin; her brothers, Roland Metcalf and Robert Metcalf and his wife, Norma; and her sister Jill Viniarski; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. during the last half hour of the visitation at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 La Rue Road, Newfoundland.
The family will also receive visitors on Wednesday, May 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home, 14 West Green St., Nanticoke, Pennsylvania.
A prayer service will take place on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home followed by the interment in The Hanover Green Cemetery in Hanover Township, Pennsylvania.
