The eighth annual Pass It Along Triathlon will be held at Lake Mohawk Country Club in Sparta on Saturday, July 29, from 7-11 a.m. The event is USAT sanctioned.
New this year, participants have the option to participate in one of two courses: the shorter, Sprint course is a 400-meter swim (shortened from prior years), 10.8-mile bike and 3.1 mile run (aka 5k). Another option is available for more advanced athletes, the Olympic course. The Olympic course is a 1500-meter (approx. 1 mile) swim, 21.6-mile bike and 6.2-mile run. The courses may be completed by a single person or as part of a 2- or 3-person relay team. Awards will be given to the top 3 finishing female, male and relay teams as well as several age group categories for both courses. Registrants can also win a brand new road bike from Sussex Bike and Sport Shop of Andover and Sussex. All participants registered by July 1, will receive an event T-shirt. The presenting sponsor is Newton Medical Center and Atlantic Sports Health.
The net proceeds from this event will benefit Pass It Along. Since its inception in 2001, Pass It Along has been committed to helping teenagers become confident, resilient and compassionate through self-discovery, volunteerism and leadership. Pass It Along relies solely on funding from donations and fundraising events like the triathlon to fulfill their mission, and deliver free programs and services to the local community.
Volunteering and sponsorship in the triathlon is a great way for businesses and groups of any size to support the community in continuing programs that give our teenagers opportunities to discover themselves and serve the over 40 nonprofit agencies partners.
