Lucy T. Drew (nee Trusdell), 103 years old, died peacefully at Bristol Glen, Newton, N.J., on Sunday, April 23. Born in New Haven, Conn., on Dec. 9, 1913, to Harold and Mary Trusdell of that city.
Lucy graduated from Hillhouse High School and the New Haven State Normal School. She moved to New York City where she received her bachelors degree in education from NYU in 1940. She taught in various private schools in New York City as a Kindergarten teacher. She then married Warren Drew of McAfee, N.J., in 1940. Always an avid piano and organ player, she became the organist for the Vernon United Methodist Church for 25 years while also teaching Kindergarten at the Monroe School and Hardyston Twp. Schools for 25 years retiring in 1970. She and Warren moved to Middlesex, Vt., where they made their new home. She played the organ at the Middlesex Methodist Church for 15 years and also volunteered as a librarian at the Mid State Regional Library in Montpelier, VT for 15 years. After Warrens death in 1998 she moved back to Hamburg, N.J., settling in Carlton Village. Through the years she also enjoyed spending the winters in her Florida home.
Lucy is predeceased by her husband, Warren Drew(1998) and her sister, Ruth Kierstead (2003). Mother of Genie Estell and her husband, Herb of Franklin, N.J. Grandmother of Charles Estell of Waldwick, N.J., Robert Estell of Culvers Lake, NJ and Dawn Iaderosa of Clifton, N.J. Great-grandmother of Allison and Nicole Estell of Waldwick, N.J., and Kaitlin and Eric Estell of Culvers lake, N.J., as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, N.J., on Friday, April 28, 2017, at 4 p.m. Cremation was private. Information and condolences can be found at www.fjohnramseyfuneralhome.com.
