    March 17Andre Febus, 25, of Stockholm was sentenced to two years of probation and a four-year suspension of his driver's license. He must also complete the Intoxicated Driver Resource Center program.  When his driver’s license suspension is completed he will then have a two-year ignition interlock on his vehicle.  The defendant must also complete thirty days community service, undergo a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations, submit to random urine monitoring, submit a DNA sample and pay $9,933 in court fines and fees.
    He pleaded guilty on Jan. 30, to two counts of third degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance and motor vehicle summonses driving under the influence (second offense) and refusal.
    In November of 2015, the defendant was involved in a motor vehicle stop in Vernon and found with an open bottle of alcohol on his lap and in possession of cocaine. He appeared to be under the influence and did not cooperate with police, refusing a Breathalyzer test. During a separate motor vehicle stop in February of 2016 the defendant was a passenger in the vehicle and was found to be under the influence and in possession of Cocaine.
    March 22Tina Diakos, 49, and Ozkan Cengiz, both of Butler pleaded guilty to one count each of third-degree arson for the purpose of collecting insurance money.
    Cengiz and Diakos admitted they both researched how to start fires and combustible materials in furtherance of their agreement to burn down The Jerzeez Diner located in Vernon Township, N.J.
    Cengiz and Diakos started the business was not doing well and they sought to collect insurance money from the destruction of the Diner. Cengiz admitted he drove from their home in Butler to the Diner at approximately 2:45 a.m. on March 8, 2016, and started the fire. The structure was destroyed. No one was harmed.
    This matter was investigated by the Vernon Township Police Department, The Sussex County Prosecutors Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. Sentencing is presently anticipated for May 12.
    Shawn King, 29, of Sloatsburg, N.Y., pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit theft and theft by deception, both third-degree crimes. 
    Sentencing is presently anticipated for April 28.
    In pleading guilty, King admitted that he and his co-defendant agreed to fraudulently obtain electrical supplies from an electrical supply company. The defendants obtained the supplies on various dates before being taken into custody on their final attempt on July 16, 2015.
    The case was investigated by Tpr. G. Monterosso and Tpr. T. Finnerty of the New Jersey State Police.
    March 24Roy A. Allen, 24, of Brooklyn was sentenced to three years of probation on condition that he complete 100 hours of community service, pay a total of $1,995 restitution to the U.S. Postal Service, and $162 in court fines and fees.
    He pleaded guilty on Jan. 17, to third-degree conspiracy to commit forgery.
    In February of 2016 the defendant drove his co-defendant to the Branchville, Lafayette and Augusta Post Offices where the co-defendant then cashed forged money orders. While at the Hamburg Post Office, again attempting to cash a forged money order, the Hamburg Police arrived and Allen drove away. New Jersey State troopers also assisted in the multi-jurisdiction investigation.
    Robert Lutz, 33, of Sussex Borough was sentenced to four years of probation with jail credit of 19 days. He was ordered to submit to a TASC evaluation and follow any and all recommendations made from same, participate in the DECIDE program and drug monitoring, attend three NA/AA meetings per week, report to Probation twice per week, have no contact with victims, obtain and maintain employment, cooperate in the prosecution of co-defendants, make restitution of $13,280.57, and pay fines and fees totaling $590.00.
    He pleaded guilty on Dec. 12, 2016, to two counts of criminal Trespass, a fourth-degree crime, forgery, a third-degree crime, uttering a forged instrument, a third-degree crime, and to five Violations of Probation.
    In Wantage, in September 2011, he forged a personal check of an individual for $3,000 without their authorization. In Sussex Borough in August 2016, he trespassed at a building on Main Street and in September he trespassed at an apartment building on Grant Street.
