Trump's environmental policies: There is zero time left to lose to save our planet

To the Editor:
I moved to this beautiful area because I lived in cities all my life. I am old enough to remember the smog in New York City and wishing to breathe clean country air. However, today I see all the progress made in the last 50 years being destroyed by our president.
The repercussions are to every American, every citizen of the world, every animal, plant, our entire environment, are huge. We are hearing projections of disastrous (unlivable) climate change in the tropics within 10 years, in this area within 30 years. Oil spills, over-fishing, ocean warming, bees dying, forests being cut down — these are not things we can ignore, let alone make worse. They are dismantling all regulations, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) itself, gagging the staff (who brilliantly have rogue news sites to keep us informed about NASA, the EPA, etc.). From the Sierra Club: “Agencies are being ordered to ignore the impacts of carbon pollution, begin leasing federal land for coal mining at bargain rates — at taxpayers' expense! — and, perhaps worst of all, the EPA is being ordered to dismantle its landmark climate protections, the Clean Power Plan.”
We need to join the rest of the world and move forward on climate change issues, not backward. Climate change is real, it is not a “Chinese hoax.” Do the leaders of the plan to dismantle the EPA think that their kids and grandkids can eat, drink, and breathe money?
I am hoping your readers will check out real news, from Audubon, Sierra Club, Greenpeace, World Wildlife Fund. Our own Department of Defense has released a report on the security implications of climate change, political instability and billions of climate refugees. Even “the Wall” will disrupt animal migrations, cause huge environmental problem.
Is all this to keep Trump’s Big Oil and Big Bank friends in business? Or because he hates President Obama? Coal is never coming back, no matter what he says. The world is going to wind, solar, renewables. We are moving backwards (in so many ways, but this is about climate), and there is zero time left to lose in this fight to save our planet.
